Bats do not use a bird hole. They need tight, dark chambers and a rough landing board they can climb. This nursery box is four chambers of unfinished cedar inside, dark-stained outside so it takes on sun. Mount it on a building wall 15–20 feet up — 12 feet is the floor, higher is better — facing south or southeast, with a clear drop underneath so they can fall into flight. Keep it at least 50 feet from an owl box.
